House

The day we have been praying for has finally come. WE HAVE A HOUSE!

When we began our journey we said we would not do a few things... and we did them all. Including placing an offer on a short sale. We looked at this house in October 2011 but were detracted by the Short Sale, and 3 competing offers, and with a busy rode on it's Northern border. Fast forward through four other failed offers into March and we received a call from the listing agent on this property. He said the original buyers had walked and he needed another offer ASAP. With some additional perspective of seven months of struggling with our desires for the right home we submitted an offer sight unseen.

It has been an interesting, challenging, excruciating,  faithful, exasperating, hopeful, educational, frustrating, joyful, speculative, contractual, exhausting, roller-coaster-ride 9-10 month journey. But alas the unbelievable has now become the possible. Despite the dramatic sentence above, Erica and I both definitely feel that we have been guided to this home by our Father above, and without His direction we would not be here at this time. For example we had three offers fail, two lost in odd & unique competitive circumstances, one that a seller wouldn't sign our counter offer with just $4k in concessions, and one offer we rescinded just the day before this house came available. We also locked in our rate the day the Greek credit crisis hit it's boiling point causing the lowest interest rates in recorded history. What a story.

We closed on the house on June 29, 2012 after some interesting challenges with financing (since we still own our condo) that we finally overcame to make this place ours. It has 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, is double the size of our condo in finished living space with an unfinished basement. Part of the reason it took so long is because we were determined not to settle for just any home. Erica said she wanted a "forever house." The buying conditions have been ideal and this home is far and above what we ever expected to be in when we began. There are some important changes & updates that we'll be making to ensure this becomes 'ours' and is truly special to us.

We couldn't be more excited with the result of our journey because of what this will mean for our family. We sincerely hope you come and see us in our new place, we feel that we have a little extra space to entertain and welcome guests.

Park City Getaway

We were so lucky to get to tag-a-long with Kimball for a few days in Park City.  He was there for extended work meetings and I joined him for dinner the first night. The resort was so nice I couldn't resist so after preschool the next day I headed up there with the boys.  I have never been in a resort that amazing! (Hyatt Escala)  It was a full blown condo with granite counters, wolf appliances and a washer & dryer!  I took the boys swimming, then we came up and cooked a pizza and watched Tangled.  Kimball was out late every night with work stuff, and became the designated driver. What a treat to have a mini vacation so nearby.  Not to mention I hit the outlet ;)

blurry picture ( hate that )
They had the perfect kiddy pool that the kids played in the whole time and loved it.
Movie time on the pull-out sofa.  I couldn't believe how much Talmage just sat there and lounged with the boys.  Eventually he went into his pack n play and then there was room for me to snuggle.

Happy Father's Day

We are so grateful for our father's and so blessed to have them near and involved in our family.  I'm particularly grateful to Kimball who makes so many sacrifices and works so hard to be a father.  Our boys adore him and respect him and want to be just like him.  (no pressure babe)  We are blessed to have him lead our family in righteousness and for his amazing brain- he is always making solutions, shortcuts, and good decisions.  I really appreciate his ability to fix things- nearly everything that I or the children break.  He makes us all laugh everyday, he's playful, patient, loving, gentle. and firm.
Our boys are VERY lucky!
These are my handsome boys just before church.
Talmage took 2 steps for dad as his gift.  He's getting pretty close. . .
his very first step was on Sunday the 12th of June.
The boys and I made a candy bar poster for dad to let him know how great he is.
He really is!!
