BEANS

Erica's solution to Andrew's desire to dig was to get 25 lbs. of beans from Costco and put them in a bin. Then our little arheologists can find their toys in the big bean dig. She got this idear from our recent trip to Missouri where no less than 5 kids were digging away happily.

Benson got the first crack while Andrew was napping and loved these beans so much he asked me to take his shoes off. Thirty seconds later he was swimming in the beans!

Rule #1 of the Beans, Have Fun.

Rule #2 of the Beans, Keep them in the bin.

And now all four High's are in time out. Andrew for yes, spilling the beans. Benson for being a bad big brother and not following the rules. Erica for blogging about Andrew's Fig Plant fun and not cleaning it up, and finally Kimball for thinking a 3 year old can supervise an 18 month old with only two rules. Aparently rule #1 was more important than rule #2, duh dad.

We're going outside where we can wreak havoc. Come join us!

caught red-handed

I've had this fig tree plant for almost three years. We've been asked more than once how it survived Benson's toddler years. He touched it a few times, but no real interest -didn't like the dirt feel- and that was that. Andrew is a DIFFERENT story. He loves this plant. I've tried, Kimball's tried, and he just can't leave it alone. I even got fed up of getting the broom and vaccuum out three times a day, and laid moss on top of the dirt thinking that it would be a barrier. Didn't work. Part of me is frustrated with it, and part of me feels like I'm telling him he can't do something that he loves. On top of it, Kimball introduced him to the drawer under the oven- he is obsessed with helping me cook when it comes to the stove and oven- 17 mo. old and boiling water- not a good combination. He would play with pots, pans, lids, and cooking utensils for hours. It's loud and sometimes he drops the heavy pans which scares me that he's going to break his toes. Love my little Rew- he's definately a keeper, but the plant may not be so lucky.

He's so happy to play in the dirt, and he gets so confused when we tell him not to do it.

I have to do the dishes without even using them.

Tax Season

I made it through the first 45 minutes of our appointment with our tax accountant. After books, toys, distractions, and even a pack of fruit snacks, I was done and so were the boys. I whispered to Kimball that I was going to take them to the car and asked if he could finish up. I was thinking, they can watch a movie, listen to music, I could read to them-in an organized fashion, or they could sleep- which is what they really needed to do. So, we did. They were so much better strapped in and not wreaking havoc in a quiet, adult, office space. It turned out much better! We made it through

The Perfect Fit

"Mom, can I ZROOOM in my car?"
Benson is in LOVE with his new little car. He just wiggles the handle and it moves on it's own! This is his new favorite thing to do. He rides it around the house and shares with Andrew (and me and dad! I think it's really fun too.) He found a little corn on the cob cleaner at my parents and thought it would be perfect for scrubbing down his new ride. He even grabbed a hot pad to dry it off. It was pretty cute watching him pretend- well I guess it wasn't pretend to him.

Benson is The Greatest Kid in the World

Benson recently ate chocolate cake at Aunt Laura's birthday party. He was running around like a normal 3 year old. Did not exhibit any signs of illness. We came home late, went wee-wee, dressed in the jammers, prepared for bed with song and prayer, layed him down to bed when... WHAM! Burp and gargle! What the? My arm is wet... it smells like puke... ERICA TURN ON THE LIGHT!

Now you are likely asking yourself after viewing these pictures, why is Benson the greatest kid in the world after he just puked triple chocolate cake all over himself, his father and his bed?
He did not move a muscle, cry, and went to sleep immediately following a quick bath, new linens & pj's. Look -he's the same in all three pictures with puke all over everywhere! Amazing.
Andrew would have slept through the entire episode if it weren't for his parents laughing and the flash of the camera. Since he was awake, Andrew yelled himself out of his crib, climbed his way into Benson's bed for snuggles and loves. Did I say amazing yet? We have seriously awesome kids. Y'all come over to the High house at 11PM and see what awaits you. We dare ya!

How many stamps to mail the fridge?

Benson tried to mail the fridge today with what he thought were "stickers." Nicely arranged pattern don't you think!
