If you're a happy customer you'll tell 3 people.
If you're a mad customer you'll tell 11 people.
In August I started wearing a beater watch from my mission and decided this watch thing wasn't such a fad after all. Then in September when we were shopping together Erica was a VERY good listener and for Christmas she surprised me with this awesome watch called THE CANNON by Nixon. I couldn't be happier.
You'll remember from June that I posted about being the smoothie king. Well I arose one June morning to get my smoothie fix, cut up some strawberries, bananas etc... and put the remnants down the sink disposal and turned it on. I instantly heard the grinding of metal on metal and freaked out. I looked down the hole in the sink and saw my mangled Nixon watch. The crap hit the fan.
In an unsupervised moment before bed the night before Andrew climbed up the chair, onto the table, over the bar and was depositing the contents from the counter into the sink. If the child had been awake he would have gotten beat. I was livid. The clasp was non-functional, the bezel and casing had deep gashes, and a few of the links were totaled.
Furious, distraught and depressed -I went to work. When I came home Andrew and I made amends. He's so cute, how can you be mad at the little one?
I looked up the Nixon service website and their warranty page specifically says, "Defects in materials and workmanship" and "this doesn't mean you can abuse your watch and expect us to fix it for free." I guess you could say my 19 month old abused the watch, not me right?
My intention was to grind, file and buff out the gashes, replace the links with some spares and be constantly reminded of the dangers of child rearing to dad's possessions. Just ask my dad about all the stuff that has walked off into Nate's garage;). Repair estimate from Nixon was $32 for a new band.
I shipped it to them on Friday June 25th, an email on the the 28th said they received the item and cataloged it in the repair que. Two days later I got an emailed invoice for $0.00 with a UPS tracking number. Wow, that was fast! And, what? No charge? Sweet.
On the July 2nd, one week since I sent it to them, the UPS man knocked on the door with a little box for me. I opened the package and INSIDE WAS A BRAND NEW WATCH! I'm amazed, shocked and in awe. People, buy a Nixon. Their watches are steezy good looking, fairly priced, and ahem -their service rocks!
Anyway... I've written a few glowing reviews on some websites to repay them for their awesome customer service. I'm a happy customer and hopefully this will reach more than 3 people ;).
P.S. To my knowledge no child was harmed in this life experience. Also, Erica would want me to note that she lost an orange bracelet in the incident. Unfortunately this one is D.E.D. dead.

yea! I love good customer service! Smith did that for me with a pair of sunglasses and they have me for life! I'm glad you blogged this for Andrews history- I think you should put a really darling picture of Andrew at the end! :)
P.P.S.Items that have walked away from Dad's garage and into Nate's over crowded garage tend to make it back once they are missed. =o)
